Andrew Paterson
CTO and Co-Founder
Andrew is a key inventor of Clip Health’s core intellectual property on leveraging persistent luminescence for highly sensitive and low-cost diagnostics, which he began developing during his doctoral studies in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Houston. Andrew received a Young Investigator Award for his doctoral research at the Affinity 2015 Conference of the International Society for Molecular Recognition. He has served as a Principal Investigator on several NIH grants for the development of rapid biosensing technologies, with applications including the detection of Chlamydia trachomatis and Influenza A/B. Andrew oversaw the development of Clip Health’s SARS-COV-2 rapid antigen test from ideation through commercial launch. He has helped transform the company from a two-founder startup to a thriving diagnostics company that develops, manufactures, and sells IVD products. As Head of R&D, Andrew oversees a highly-talented multidisciplinary team spanning the areas of Assay Development, Nanoparticle Chemistry, Data Science, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and R&D Support. Andrew draws on his broad research background in biosensing, nanomaterials, chemistry, signal processing, and engineering to lead efforts to continuously improve Clip Health’s core technology and develop novel intellectual property and new products to help achieve the vision of making high-performance actionable health testing more accessible and personalized.
